How to Pack a Moving Truck with Stackable Moving Totes

Stackable totes can make a moving truck feel a lot more organized. Here are general tips to keep in mind while loading.

A quick note before you start

These are general tips — Suncoast Moving Totes rents totes and supplies, not professional moving labor. If your move is complex or you'd prefer a pro, hire a local mover.

Load heavy items low

Place heavier totes and furniture on the bottom of the load. Stack lighter totes on top to keep the truck balanced and reduce shifting while driving.

Stack totes squarely

Reusable totes stack neatly when their lids are closed. Stack like-sized totes on top of each other and keep the stacks tight against the wall of the truck.

Don't overload individual totes

Totes are sturdy, but a tote that's too heavy is hard to carry safely. Split heavy items like books across multiple totes.

Protect fragile items

Wrap glassware, electronics, and breakables in towels, linens, or clothing. Load fragile totes last so they come off the truck first.

Use straps or load bars

If your truck has tie-down points, use straps or load bars to keep stacks from shifting. A few minutes of strapping can save a lot of cleanup later.

Keep essentials accessible

Load the essentials tote, basic tools, and cleaning supplies last so they're easy to grab when you arrive.
